Musipire Professional Music Education

Reaching the top

A common misconception in music performance is that many people believe only professionals can play advanced pieces, while people in the lower levels cannot. As a result, many beginner and intermediate level students refuse to challenge themselves, thinking that they are incapable of playing more difficult pieces. However, Musipire strongly believes that if a student cannot challenge himself by performing more advanced pieces, he can never advance forward.

One of Musipire’s students, Shirley Lin, started showing exceptional music skills as a child. Ever since she was a little girl, she had great passion and interest in music. When she enrolled in Musipire, her instructor realized that as much as she loved playing music, she had an unusual dislike towards pieces that are not challenging. Even in times when Shirley was not yet proficient in playing certain pieces, she would still ask for harder pieces to perform. As a result, her instructor solidified her foundation in playing the piano, while selecting many advanced music pieces for her. In a short period of time, her knowledge and skills improved at an amazing rate. Currently, at age thirteen, Shirley has accumulated two completed solo recital repertoires.

In order to reach the top, one must start from the bottom. The journey may be difficult, but if one does not attempt to reach higher, he would plateau without making any progress. Likewise, a musician cannot advance forward if he refuses to take on more challenging pieces, given that the will to aim for the top is the only way to get there.
